Jacques Ibert - Orchestral Works - La Ballade de la Geole de Reading - Trois Pieces de Ballet - Feerique - Chant de Folie - Suite Elisabethaine - Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Adriano

Here's another Jacques Ibert disc on Marco Polo from 1993, and this time it's a survey of orchestral works written between 1921-1942. This is an all-around excellent disc imo, and indeed if I
had but an ounce of sleep-I'd write about this disc at length as there's many interesting
stories that correspond with at least three of the compositions on this recording; however I am running on fumes so I shall try to remember to come back to this post and add a few paragraphs
here for all of the (3 or so, ha...) visitors who actually take time to read about the music before eagerly scrolling down to the links ;)

This above is the actual cd I have, however the pdf file uses a different cover with different cover art, so the disc received two pressings for whatever reason, mine it would seem is from the initial pressing.

Enjoy.

Agreed! Ibert doesn't get much exposure and this CD is a gem at showing his versatility in different styles - and very well performed with Adriano and Slovak orchestra. Thanks, looking forward to more posts - be well.

Thank you for Ibert. Would like to hear the music he composed for Orson Welles version of Macbeth for and Gene Kelly's Invitation to the Dance.

Hello Jim and thank you for commenting. Ibert is great, and indeed only gets middle-of-the-road exposure. There will be plenty of posts, including more Ibert :) Best, Tz

Anon I will add that to my 'request list', I have the Ibert on a Marco Polo film music classics disc, just a question of unearthing it!

Cruising to the Med, but on a big boat which I don't leave for 10 days; books, music, crosswords, a bit of sun...oh, & some lovely food and drink ! Hell, really !
Happy Christmas to all here !
