Robert Kyr - The Cloud of Unknowing - Songs of the Soul - The Singer's Ode - Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra - Conspirare - Craig Hella Johnson - H.M. 2014

Robert Kyr is a prolific and in my opinion ridiculously talented American composer. His music is  accessible, more often than not lyrical, and simply lovely. He is best known for his choral music (the two major works here are cantatas) however this is I believe largely due to the fact that his orchestral and instrumental music is (bafflingly!?!) barely recorded thus far. There are a few discs available, and  they are impressive. One such gem will be my next post in fact...a knockout in my opinion.

I am including the booklet notes so as far as time is concerned - thankfully I can let the pages do the "talking".

Enjoy!

You are welcome Johann! -Is it true that you live down by the beautiful blue Danube? (apologies that was not funny but FUN-less, which, is not even a word. but an apt description anyhow ;)

Cjv, another triumph on my end :D It's beautiful music, although not Kyr's most distinctive imo. Either way being the composer that Kyr is, this is a fantastic listen every time!
