You have to love the New Yorker Magazine. Some of the finest and funniest illustrations are to be found within is covers. And speaking of covers, The New Yorker's covers offer sardonic, clever, sophisticated, thought-provoking, beautiful, odd, highly memorable and all around exceptional art by some of the greatest illustrators (long live the Art Speigelman years!!), serving up social and political commentary, pop-culture absurdity and everything in between. Trying to make sense of (or mock splendidly) our humanity The New Yorker does like no one else. The legendary covers are sought out and highly collectable (my father has just about every issue of the New Yorker since the 1960s) with original covers selling for steep prices; one can go the easier hobbyist route and buy reproductions from The New Yorker store and other sources; visit the New Yorker store online and you can buy prints of the cartoons and covers, with prices ranging anywhere from $49.00 to $900.00 or more.

 I just ruined the humor of a wordless post by writing about the magazine, but oh well.

One more thing...if properly prepared and baked kale chips are really quite good. Even if you are not a vegan hipster.

The marital conflicts and stress in his life is often sublimated through his infamously wild Herbie Hancock improvisations

...or by visiting his younger brother who always offers real emotional guidance

Scraps is strongly opposed to anything farm-raised and can often be found fishin' down by the river

Although a lover of classical music, Scraps has a 'soft' spot for harder music including metal and spent two years in the 1980's touring with Def Leppard. Here he is during an encore - he is so grateful for his fans!!

Initially this fame meant money was no option; this was short-lived however as like a sudden jolt of rock n roll lightening from his electric guitar,

Scraps fell on hard times - doing time. He "didn't know" about the back taxes!! 

Released early due to his exemplary behavior, Scraps used both his talent and unrelenting resolve to reinvent himself. Long story short, he ended up becoming the first "hybrid-conductor" appointed to the Detroit Symphony!

Bach in Lights: An art installation..

Beyond the aesthetics, I'm not sure that the "glowing notes" will help anyone to better grasp the notation of sections taken from The Well-Tempered Clavier. It is pleasing to look at so I guess that shouldn't matter. -I wonder what type of space would be required to do this will the entire Brandenburg Concertos - anyone have an airport they can spare? ;)

“Bach in Lights,” an animation by artist Alan Warburton featuring two compositions from The Well Tempered Clavier (Prelude and Fugue in C Major), is a clever fusion of classical music and modern animation tools. In this scene, hundreds of fluorescent light bulbs are hung in a gallery and parking garage, each one a physical representation of a single music note’s length and pitch. When a note is struck, its light, shadows, glows and reflections are rendered, creating a surprisingly life-like experience. It’s both technically astounding and incredibly soothing to watch.
