Bohuslav Martinů - Fantaisies symphoniques (Symphony No. 6) - Bouquet of Flowers

Historic recordings from 1955 and 1956 of Martinů's Symphony No. 6 and the "Bouquet of Flowers" a cycle of works to folk texts for mixed and children's choirs, soloists and small orchestra. Czech Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus (and the Kuhn Children's Chorus) are conducted by the wonderful Karel Ancerl. Enjoy.

For decades I have owned Bouquet of Flowers on a Supraphon record with bad surfaces. It is wonderful to replace it with this.

Eric, I'm really happy I could help out with this disc.
I had mentioned in the most recent Martinu post that I'd not be posting his symphonies (because the best sets/cycles are already on a few blogs) and thus this post really is about Bouquet of Flowers, a great work. The 6th is well done of course, after all it's a historic Ancerl recording. Anyhow your comment made my day..a "mission accomplished" for me :)

Many thanks for the recording. I like Ancerl in this repertory.

Many thanks for all your effort and all the best!

Greetings Fernando and welcome to my blog. You are really very welcome, I'm happy that you are enjoying!
And Yes, Ancerl was truly great on all the Supraphon recordings in particular, a Czech is always the best interpreter of Czech music ;) (or usually) Regards, Tz
